Hello Treasure Hunters! We would like to start off by thanking everyone who participated in the Seven Paces Free Hunt! We hope you all had a great time! We would also like to congratulate the 4 winners! Well done! Our primary motivation for holding the free hunt was so that we could try out the process and see what works and what doesn’t. Overall, we feel things went very well! Now let’s break down the solve!
We designed the hunt to last three days. Each day we released one clue. The first being the most vague, the second being easier and the third being the easiest. By day three, we expected all treasures to be found. Here’s how it breaks down…
Friday – Release Clue One
What goes up, must come down
Round and round
All over town
The largest of it’s kind around
Explanation
This clue is meant to hint at disc golf in general. In hindsight, we’d probably determine this clue to be too vague to be included. Ideally, we want it to be possible, but improbable, to find the treasure based just on information gleaned from the the first clue.
Saturday – Release Clue Two
Go Low Today
Tweet Tweet Birdie
Cart and Tees Unnecessary
Explanation
Lot’s of golf clues in this one! Go Low Today is a phrase golfers use to wish each other luck before playing. Go Low meaning to go for a low score. Tweet Tweet Birdie is another golf reference and could also refer to a heavily treed area. Cart and Tees Unnecessary hints at it not being regular ol’ golf.
Sunday – Release Clue Three
Not Nicklaus
Not Palmer
But Abraham
Not Floppy
Not Compact
But Circular
Explanation
This baby’s laced with the dead giveaway! Not Nicklaus, Not Palmer, But Abraham… the first two are golfers, the last one is definitely not, (or maybe he was, who knows), and we’re of course referring to Abraham Lincoln. So we have Golf and Lincoln… Lincoln Golf Course! Wrong… the next three lines, Not Floppy, Not Compact, But Circular, is sort of a fill-in-the-blank clue, each one a form of disc. This should have lead you to Lincoln Disc Golf Course!
The Hide
In this case, we led hunters to a relatively large area since we were hiding multiple treasures. The hides were placed in fairly visible locations, again, due to large area we were dealing with.

The Process
Overall, we think things went pretty smoothly. There were a few hangups with emails going to junk folders. Emails were also pretty slow to process and send. In the future, email should be treated as a nice reminder and not a trustworthy method for receiving the riddle. Using the riddle page is definitely going to be the fastest and most reliable method for getting the clues as fast as possible.
Conclusion
We had a lot of fun hosting this hunt! We’re really excited for the big hunt for $20,000 but we need your help to make it happen! If you enjoyed yourself and you’re excited for the big one, help us out by spreading the word! The faster we can reach our quota, the sooner we can start the hunt! Thank you all for participating and we’ll see you at the next one!
